Oak

Oak burns vary hot burning firewood, but what makes it so special is it has the longest burn time out of all the woods in Tennessee. The only downsides to Oak is that it can take up to an hour and a half to reach its peak heat level, and is more difficult to start; so we do not recommend Oak for fires shorter then 3-4hrs. Oak is wood for people who want to get the most burn for their buck.

Walnut

Walnut is a great firewood for anyone wanting an easy to make, clean burning wood with a shorter burn time. We recommend it for anyone wanting short entertainment fires in an indoor/outdoor fireplace and burn pit but still want it to pack some heat. Not recommended to use for cooking due to having mild toxins that could be harmful when cooking.

Hickory (out of stock)

Hickory is the fifth highest BTU rated wood in the USA, and the third in middle Tennessee. Hickory is best known for BBQ but it is also great for heating home especially with a wood stove. Hickory burns up to 2x longer and 3x hotter than our standard mixed firewood. A couple things to remember when buying Hickory is it actually burns hotter when it's wet/green, and has an incredibly short storage life; so we recommend that hickory is used within the first four months after production.

Cherry

Cherry is one of the best firewoods for cooking and smoking. It has much more distinct flavor and smell compared to other cooking woods. It's also easy to start, and burns extremely hot, and Cherry looks great too, it might just be our most attractive firewood we sell. We do not recommend using Cherry if you have asthma or are sensitive to strong smells, because Cherry has a nice sweet but potent smell.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much firewood can i fit in my vehicle?

Stacks Image 12840

A standard car/sedan usually can fit about 1/4 rick (4x2) of wood stacked in the trunk.

Stacks Image 12838

An SUV can usually fit between 1/4 rick to 2/3 rick (4x6) of firewood.

Stacks Image 12836

Most pickup trucks with a 6ft bed can hold 1 rick (4x8) to 1-1/4 rick (4x10) of wood.

Is your firewood split in half or quarters?

Our firewood is split from logs ranging from 5” to 55” in diameter, so we try to split our firewood to a manageable size that you can easily pick a piece up with just one hand.

Do I need fresh or seasoned firewood?

It all comes down to your personal use for the firewood; If you are smoking/cooking with your firewood, you actually need green wood so that it will put off more smoke and flavor then if it were dry. On the other hand if you’re heating your house with wood you will need it to be simi-seasoned for maximum heat, while you may want your wood to be dry for an easy start if you’re just having a short fire for entertaining.

How long does it take to season wood?

We all have heard it takes 6-12 months for wood to season… but that is only true if you live in the northern United States and Canada; Because there are so many variables that go into drying firewood, if the wood is split in the colder parts of the year then the moisture won’t have any heat to evaporate the moisture in the wood. If it’s covered with a tarp, it may also take longer because air can’t circulate and the moisture can’t escape. Some types of wood (like oak) may take longer to dry out, while other types of wood (like hickory) may take far less time to dry out. We recommend for most wood to be split and uncovered for 1-4 months of 70º-95º heat for the best fire and heat results.
